PEOPLE Kick-off Meeting held in Slovenia
(Ljubljana, 17–18 November 2016)
On 17 and 18 November 2016, fifteen representatives of universities, a research organisation, and industry partners from the four participating countries gathered in Ljubljana, Slovenia, to kick-off the PEOPLE project. The first meeting of the consortium was organised by the PEOPLE project coordinator, IRI UL (Innovation and Research Institute of the University of Ljubljana), and was held in the historical building at the seat of the University of Ljubljana.
The meeting was officially opened by the Rector of the University of Ljubljana, Prof Dr Ivan Svetlik, who underlined the importance of networking and knowledge exchange between universities and industry, particularly in the area of designing and implementation of higher education study programmes.
In the meeting, Work Package leaders presented in detail the individual tasks to be undertaken during the course of the project, as well as the timeline, milestones, expected results and outcomes of each Work Package. Representatives of the four industry partners presented the concrete business challenges, which will be the focus of interdisciplinary teams of students, and their university and industry mentors. All four case-studies focus on energy efficiency and sustainable living. In the final section of the meeting, the participants took part in an interactive workshop on people-centred development approaches, which are at the core of the PEOPLE project.
The project kick-off meeting set the ground for an intensive, dynamic, and fruitful cooperation between the project partners and the coordinating organisation.
